Pump Installation & Repair
Effluent and grinder pump solutions when gravity isn’t enough.
Residential & commercial pump installation, repair & troubleshooting.
When Is a Pump System Needed?
Not every septic or sewer system can rely on gravity alone. Depending on the grade
and slope of the property, the depth of the plumbing leaving the structure, and where
wastewater needs to go, a pump may be needed to move wastewater to the drain field
or sewer connection.
C.E. Taylor & Son installs and services effluent and grinder pump systems for
residential and commercial properties. Whether you need a new system or are having
trouble with an existing one, we can determine what’s going on and recommend the
right solution.

Grinder Pumps
Grinder pumps are typically used to move wastewater through a pressurized sewer line. They may be needed when the sewer connection is uphill or when the property cannot connect by gravity.
Pump System Repairs & Troubleshooting
If your pump system isn’t working properly, the pump itself isn’t always the problem. Pumps, floats, alarms, electrical components, and lines can all cause issues. Signs your pump system may need service include:
- Pump alarm sounding
- Slow drains or wastewater backups
- Pump not running
- Pump running more often than usual
- Wet or soggy areas around the pump chamber
- Sewage odors

- Electrical component evaluation
- Pump chamber service
Is Your Pump Alarm Going Off?
A pump alarm typically means the water level in the pump chamber has risen higher than it should. This could be caused by a pump, float, electrical issue, or simply more water entering the system than it can move.
If your alarm is sounding, limit water use until the system can be checked. Avoid laundry, dishwashers, long showers, and other heavy water use to reduce the chance of a backup or overflow.
